Tropical Waves Block of the Month
The Seaside Piecemakers’ Block-of-the-Month Program for 2016-2017 is a ROW QUILT WITH A TWIST. It’s called Tropical Waves and is only available as a prepaid subscription. The quilt made its debut at the July meeting and subscriptions are now closed.
There are 8 ROWS of varying widths and 2 corner blocks. This is the twist to the standard Row quilt. All the motifs are beach-themed and include fish, shells, flip-flops, beach chairs, and many more. The fabrics will be presented as a palette that can be used in your choice of places. Use your creativity! Then, when it’s time to assemble the rows, they can be placed as you wish, there’s no set placement.
While all the patterns are fusible applique, there is still the option to do turned edge, should you choose this method. New techniques will include: couching, dimensional applique with Fabric Magic and more.
