Best Intentions Bed Turning

Friday and Saturday throughout the Quilt Show

There is little doubt that quilters throughout the ages have started every new project with best intentions of seeing it through completion.  Yet sometimes, despite Best Intentions, a quilt doesn’t quite make it to the finish line.

Whatever the era, some will argue these unfinished treasures should remain in the condition they were left by the original maker, but not every UFO has enough historical value to justify ignoring the original makers Best Intentions. . . And so . . . and finished them . . . with Best Intentions.

Opportunity Quilt

This year our Opportunity Quilt is a beautiful, machine-appliqued quilt, made by past SSPM member Becky Fiedler.  The quilt is the 2015 “Tropical Storm” Block-of-the-Month pattern designed by Barbara Soumar of Flamingo Island Designs and Bobbie Dye.  A special thanks to Diana Marchand who pieced the French Braid borders and quilted the top on her longarm machine.

The Opportunity Raffle Quilt “Tropical Storm” (65” wide x 70” long) is on display from Saturday, January 15 to Tuesday, January 25 at Quilts and Lace in Melbourne. Opportunity Quilt tickets ($1 each) and Pre-sale tickets ($10 each) are also available at the same location. Proceeds from Opportunity Quilt tickets benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
